City Budget
Each year, the City Council establishes priorities for the annual budget that will serve as the funding plan for policies, goals, and service levels for the City. The annual budget is prepared with guidance from the City Council, City Manager, and City staff. The City’s budget reflects our commitment to providing high-quality services that residents rely on every day.
Annual Budget Timeline
The City of Castle Pines operates on an annual budget with a fiscal year of January through December. Budget development begins each summer as City staff collaborate on long-range planning, capital projects, and goals based on City Council priorities. The City Manager's proposed budget is made available to the public each fall on the City’s website, along with information about the City Council's review and approval process. 2027 Annual Budget
Planning for the City’s 2027 annual budget is underway. The 2027 proposed budget provides funding for major capital projects, including road and park improvements, public safety services, and more.

2027 Budget Process
City staff crafted the proposed budget to ensure that the excellent service delivery our community has come to expect under this City Council’s policy direction is not only maintained but is enhanced in service of City Council’s goals and priorities for 2027 and beyond.
Budget-related discussions were held with the City Council to develop the City’s 2026-2027 Strategic Plan and to confirm the staff’s understanding of the Strategic Plan and the City Council’s priorities contained within it. With City Council’s affirmation and the budget guidelines mentioned above, the staff assembled the 2027 budget proposal.
The proposed budget was submitted to City Council on September 30, 2026. City Council is scheduled to discuss the proposed budget and provide direction to staff during a budget study session on October 20, 2026. City Council is scheduled to adopt the 2027 annual budget during the December 8, 2026 City Council meeting.
