Ballot Measure 2F supported by Castle Pines North Metropolitan District Board

October 19, 2023 at 11:23 am

The Castle Pines North Metropolitan District (CPNMD) Board of Directors passed a resolution supporting the City's 2F ballot question earlier this month.

2F asks voters to support 12 mills for the City to manage public parks, trails, recreation, and open space. A majority of local metropolitan districts would then permanently reduce 12 mills of their property tax collection, transferring those mills to the City from the metro district.

Per the resolution, the CPNMD Board of Directors "supports this Ballot Measure and believes it to be in the best interests of the District and the community resulting in lower taxes and more efficient parks, recreation and open spaces."

CodeRED emergency notification system will be tested Wednesday, Oct. 4

October 3, 2023 at 3:01 pm

Are you and your family members signed up for CodeRED emergency notifications in Douglas County? You’ll want to be aware of a system test coming up this week at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4. The purpose of this test is to validate the telephone numbers in the Douglas County emergency notification database. There is no need for action if you receive the call.

The Caller ID will read 866-419-5000, and the message will say, “This is a test of Douglas County CodeRED Emergency Notification System. No action is required; this is only a test. Had this been an actual emergency, you would have received important information from your local public safety officials. Again, this is only a test.” This testing process will increase the efficiency of the system and the speed at which notifications will be delivered when the system is used during an actual emergency.

Douglas County residents and businesses are encouraged to visit the Douglas County website to sign up to receive CodeRED notifications or update their contact information, including additional phone numbers and email addresses, to ensure all of the data in the system is accurate and current. Residents who have unlisted phone numbers changed their phone number or address within the past year, and/or those who use a cellular or a VoIP phone as their primary number should add or update their contact information in the emergency database.

The CodeRED notification system assists in providing registered residents with necessary public safety information pertaining to their registered location via telephone calls, text messages, and/or emails.

Questions regarding the CodeRED system or this test should be emailed to public_notify@Douglas911.org.

Dispose of fallen leaves properly to keep storm drains clear

October 2, 2023 at 9:39 am

It's everybody's least favorite fall chore but it's important to dispose of fallen leaves properly to keep them out of our storm drains. Here are a few helpful tips to keep our waterways clean:

      • Rake/blow leaves into a pile, bag them, and then toss them in with your trash.
      • Compost the leaves. If you don’t have a compost bin at your home, look for upcoming leaf recycling events.
      • Set your mower to mulch and let the leaves fertilize your lawn naturally.
